Electoral Area A - Community Plan for West side of pitt lake.

The third draft of the official community plan for the west side of pitt lake was presented yesterday at a meeting in Port Moody.

If you want to review the document and get comments in do so as soon as possible,. Next stop for this document is the official voting process...

Here is a link to the document...

To keep on with what is happening in Electoral Area A I strongly recommend that you get on their mailing list (if you are on the west side of the lake)

Note that MetroVancouver Electoral area A folks have registered the  cabins on the west side of Pitt Lake with the 911 service so if you have cell phone service and know the number assigned to your cabin ( for the 911 registration) , that will be enough information for the 911 operator to know where to send someone to help you...

The latest version of the pitt lake directory that I sent out has a link to the map that metrovancouver has prepared..

Fog

For the folks that head up the lake all year round this note is probably not necessary, but if you haven't been up for a while , or you just bought a cabin on the lake and haven't been up much in the winter , or whatever the case may be, the fog has at times been so thick as too make navigation very very  difficult.

So, although it may be clear on the day you head up the lake or river , remember it could well be dark and foggy on the day you head back home.

In addition to having to worry about travelling through the channel and not going aground and also making it down the river it can also be really difficult ,  and at times almost impossible to find the entrance to the boatclub.

We only have the pilings upstream of the entrance to the boatclub , so if you miss turning into the boat club you don''t have any further visual references to orient with, and you could then end up farther downstream and beached on the mudflats or even much farther down the river and have to contend with bridge piers that you may not be able to see til it is too late..
